Reverend Kenneth Anderson

for District 2 Council Member

I have had the privilege of serving the diverse communities of District 2 for 15 years, during which I have witnessed significant challenges, particularly in the areas of Housing Stability, Public Safety, and support for our local churches and businesses.

My impact extends well beyond the church doors; I am a passionate advocate for expanding sustainable housing options for seniors, ensuring that our most vulnerable residents have access to safe and affordable living conditions.

Additionally, I strive to enhance Public Safety for all residents of District 2, recognizing that a secure environment is essential for fostering community well-being and prosperity.

I have a deep understanding and commitment to exploring various avenues to address these pressing issues. Together, we aim to make District 2 a place where everyone has a voice and can actively participate in shaping our community’s future.

My platform focuses on three main areas:

1. Improving Stable Housing: Oakland faces significant housing challenges, with over 5,000 unhoused individuals. I aim to expand programs like the Safe Car Parking and leverage existing efforts to address homelessness and housing insecurity for seniors, families, and disabled.

2. Enhancing Public Safety: Addressing crime requires collaborative approaches between law enforcement and community groups. By supporting targeted interventions and community-driven safety strategies, we can work to reduce theft and robberies.

3. Promoting Sustainable Local Development: Supporting local businesses and Houses of Worship is crucial. By creating safe, vibrant neighborhoods and leveraging programs like the Oakland Business Sustainability Program, we can help local enterprises thrive.

I am committed to transparency, inclusiveness, and ensuring every voice in District 2 is heard and represented. Our community’s strength lies in working together to solve challenges and create opportunities for all residents.
